Natural Encounters, Inc., has immediate Seasonal Keeper openings for motivated individuals who want to grow their skills with a world renown animal training and educational facility.

Seasonal Keeper Job Description:
A seasonal keeper is a temporary position as an interim replacement to supplement the workforce. This position is of a limited duration. The seasonal employee may not work more than 39.5 hours per week and cannot exceed more than 1000 hours per year. Seasonal keepers are responsible for the day to day husbandry and assisting in the management of the animal collection. They support, uphold, and promote the goals, purpose and growth of Natural Encounters, Inc. and is affiliates. A seasonal keeper must have a strong team work ethic, and a positive attitude in the work environment and is responsible for ensuring the health and welfare of animals in Natural Encounters, Inc. collection.

Job Duties include:
– Ensuring animal welfare is of highest priority
– Husbandry-cleaning, scrubbing/disinfecting enclosures
– Create and implement approved enrichment
– Notifying Senior Staff of any inconsistencies in the health or behavior of animals in the collection
– Diet preparation
– May be asked to assist in baby bird feeding
– May be asked to observe and/or assist full time trainers in training projects.

Education and Pre-requisites

Qualifications:
– Seasonal keepers will abide by the NEI Code of Conduct in their everyday actions and interactions with others, including:
o Being a team player
o Maintaining a positive attitude
o Supporting team members
– Assisting in Data Entry
– Seasonal keepers should have excellent observational skills and sensitivity to animal behavior
– Seasonal keepers should be coachable – receive and act on feedback to improve
– Seasonal keepers should now all facility’s protocols (safety, medical, etc.) and follows them, or asks for further information

Education
– Highschool diploma or GED
– Previous experience in an animal facility is helpful but not required

Other Requirements
– Ability to adapt to changes in routines
– Ability to prioritize tasks and complete on schedule
– Ability to work some evenings, weekends, and Holidays
– Work in a warm, humid climate – 90+ degrees
– Work in a noisy and sometimes hectic environment
– Lift up to 50lbs
– Stand/walk up to 8+ hours per day
