Description
Responsible for the development and supervision of the division. Responsible for the daily care and maintenance of wildlife collection including monitoring health, providing enrichment and training for a diverse collection of animals from amphibians and reptiles to mammalian carnivores and birds of prey. Collaborating with multiple departments on creation and execution of programming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the daily care of indoor and outdoor facilities, including ponds and grounds
• Development and implementation of animal care protocols which maintain humane and sanitary conditions for the live animal collection.
• Establishes guidelines for the use of the animals for education, exhibit and research.
• Serves on museum committees and assists in the management of museum business and functions.
• Responsible for the preparation of budgets monthly and annual reports, supply procurement and grant preparation.
• Develops curriculum which involve live animal use as a primary educational resource. Oversees wildlife classes, workshops, seminars and lectures.
• Trains Museum Education Division personnel in the use of live animals and provides resources for educational use.
• Trains volunteers to provide Live-Animal Programs for Museum visitors.
• Provides direct educational services by teaching classes, engaging in Museum outreach programs, addressing interested groups and organizations in the community.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance: rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Administers museum policy within the Division.
• Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Wildlife Resources or Museum Administration.
Education and Pre-requisites
• A degree in biology, zoology, animal science or a closely related field is required. Minimum of seven to ten (10) years of experience.
• Minimum of five to seven years in management of supervisory role.
• In-depth knowledge of wildlife husbandry, captive maintenance and handling, of wildlife.
• Experience and knowledge of wildlife rehabilitation techniques and procedures. Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and codes relating to animal acquisition, housing, husbandry and use.
• Experience is strategic planning and resource allocation
• Familiar with multiple media platforms
• Excellent communication and presentation skills – the ability to speak to audiences of all sizes and make ups and educate and entertain them.

• Strong experience with regards to public speaking.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
