Description

Interns will receive hands-on experience while assisting zookeepers in their daily duties and can expect to gain knowledge in daily husbandry practices, exotic animal healthcare, behavioral enrichment, nutrition, exhibit design, record keeping, behavior, and animal handling. ZooWorld Interns will strengthen and develop their inter-personal skills through their involvement in daily guest/animal ambassador experiences.

Education and Pre-requisites

During the course of the program, interns will be expected to assist zookeepers in nearly every aspect of their daily routine. This will include working outdoors in all weather conditions, assisting and educating zoo guests, diet preparation, and will include manual labor. You MUST be able to lift 50 lbs and be able to fully participate in daily duties.
Internships must be at least three months in length and require a minimum of three scheduled eight-hour days per week or two ten-hour days depending on the current zoo schedule. All vacation requests must be approved BEFORE being accepted into the internship program.
Must be 18 to apply.

Compensation and benefits

Unpaid internship.
Interns willing to complete a full 40-hour work week for a consecutive three months will be provided with intern housing at no extra cost. Housing is on a first come first served basis.
