Description
Tanganyika Wildlife Park in Goddard, KS is looking for hardworking, self-motivated, dedicated animal experience staff. Currently the park is 25 acres and has another 40+ acres to expand and we plan on growing. A new children’s zoo and safari park are among the plans for expansion. Tanganyika prides itself in providing wildly different experiences for its guests and being stewards for the animals in our care. In the past year, we have developed a set of core values to guide leadership and our team to improve and continue to meet our goals of becoming a destination park for visitors and a great place to work. If you like a fast paced, growth mindset culture come join the change.
The Connections team is responsible for a variety of animal connection opportunities throughout the park including our behind the scenes, meet and greets, and encounter stations. This team loves getting creative and innovative and working to find ways to connect guests to our animals. We work alongside the keepers and trainers to execute our sloth behind the scenes, otter meet and greets, penguin swims and more. This position will be responsible for the guest facing side of the experiences like leading the meet and greets, sharing facts, taking photographs, maintaining our meet and greet room, and engaging in informal education opportunities throughout the park. When you’re out in the park you’ll be trained to use various guest engagement skills to do things like create lemur quiz shows for guests waiting in the lemur line, teach the lorikeet feeders what zygodactyl feet look like, or share with the guest what to look for that they might miss in the exhibit.
If you love creating innovative and exciting ways for people to get closer to animals, have experience in informal education, love learning yourself, and want to do all of that while otters, porcupines, servals, and penguins run around at your feet then this position is perfect for you! If you enjoy entertaining, think the word omnivorous is fun to say, and can’t wait to tell people that binturong pee smells like popcorn then stop reading and start applying!
