Description

The main responsibility of this position is to oversee the facilities operations at Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch. The Director will also manage budgeting, contractors, maintenance, security and safety throughout the facility.

This position will be responsible for:

Directing the day-to-day facilities functions and operations of Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch, including pasture management; fertilization and planting; herbicides and pesticides; enclosures and fencing; vehicles, roads, and heavy machinery; buildings and infrastructure; plumbing and electrical systems;

Coordinating routine maintenance and repairs including waste disposal;

Designing construction and renovation projects in cooperation with the Director and animal care team and prepares estimates on materials and project costs;

Overseeing in-house construction and arranging contracts for larger projects including bidding and day-to-day supervision;

Creating a safe and secure work environment, including implementing safety procedures and training staff, interns, and volunteers on technique, procedures and safety;

Preparing facilities budgets and monitoring expenditures;

Overseeing, interviewing, and training volunteers and interns;

Ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and permits;

Performing other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.

Education and Pre-requisites

Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management or another related field, or equivalent work experience, required;

A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in facilities operations required;

Supervisory/management experience required;

Ability to operate heavy equipment, including skid steer, backhoe, and tractors;

Ability to drive vehicles with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record;

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook);

Leadership ability in work setting;

Flexible, willing to learn, and anticipates the needs of self and staff;

Ability to set a positive tone for employees during their day;

Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; self-motivated and proactive;

Ability to manage issues requiring problem resolution and conflict management with excellent interpersonal and intervention skills;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

Knowledge of business operations, including effective budget development and management processes;

Attention to detail and commitment to excellence, demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;

Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.
