Description
Panther Ridge is looking for a full time staff member to care for many species of exotic felines. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing exceptional care for the animals in our collection, all the while supporting conservation efforts in Africa and Asia. Although we are not open to the general public, we provide educational private tours conducted by all staff, interns and the director. Panther Ridge is currently home to 15 cats including Cheetah, Leopard, Jaguar, Puma, Clouded Leopard, Ocelot, Serval, and Caracal. Check out our website at Pantherridgecc.org to learn more. Panther Ridge is located 30 min southwest of West Palm Beach, 20 min from the ocean and 1.5 hours from Miami.
Responsibilities Include:
• Diet preparation
• Cleaning of enclosures
• Animal interactions/training
• General maintenance as needed
• Assisting with veterinary care if needed
• Providing enrichment
• Public interactions through tours
• Follow safety procedures
• Mentor and train all incoming interns and volunteers
• Assist director as needed
Education and Pre-requisites
• Must have a BS degree in biology, zoological or a related field
• 1 year full time experience required from a zoological setting. Exotic feline experience highly preferred
• 6 months of knowledge involving behavioral training experience required
• Ability to lift and carry 40-60 pound boxes
• Ability to work in the Florida weather conditions for extended periods of time
• Must work all Holidays and weekends
• Ability to stand/walk for 6-8 hours each day
• Must be a hard-working, self-motivated individual
• Must work well with others
