Position Objective: The Human Resources Manager of the Office of Seasonal Employment is responsible for facilitating the recruitment, selection, onboarding, and support of over 1200+ seasonal staff. The seasonal staff play a critical role in the operation of the NYC Zoos and Aquarium, including the flagship Bronx Zoo, which provides memorable experiences to more than 4 million visitors per year.

Principal Responsibilities:

Management

Lead a team of four HR professionals who support The Office of Seasonal Employment

Manage the workflow of the team to ensure the effective and efficient onboarding and orientation of staff

Assist team with all recruitment activity for seasonal and part time positions, including candidate job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, offers, new-hire orientation, on-boarding, staff, transfers and exits.

Support HR Business Partner with leading the team in which everyone grows professionally and helping to identify team members’ strengths, providing learning opportunities & feedback and delegating effectively.

Work with the business units to ensure timely and efficient off-boarding at the end of the season

Building effective relationships with managers and directors to understand their business needs and ensure seasonal staffing needs are met

Ensure oversight and consistency in position titles across all departments

Coach and support business managers and employees with performance management of staff, including investigating staff relations concerns

Produce and analyze key metrics pertaining to the seasonal recruitment program

Conduct Bi-weekly Manager communication meetings

Build and maintain relationships with Community Partners to enhance our Recruitment opportunities and placement into seasonal jobs

Develop and deliver Community Partner recruiting presentations and Seasonal manager training

Human Resources Policies and Support

Partners with HR Business Partner of Business Services to maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks.

Proactively pursue continuous process improvement in Human Resources related practices to enhance the quality and efficiency of the employee/client experience
Update manager and employee materials including SharePoint site.

Education and Pre-requisites

Bachelor’s degree required and with 1-3 years progressive experience relevant to Human Resources

Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws

Strong leadership skills

1+ years of Recruitment experience with the ability to deliver against high volume recruiting plans and achieve results

Strong relationship building experience

Ability to think strategically

Compensation and benefits

Salary Requirement: $75,000 – $85,000
