Description

Looking for three candidates for our Winter 2022 Large Carnivore internship spanning November 27th – February 24th. The Wild Animal Sanctuary – Texas is home to 70+ residents including tigers, black/brown bears, and wolves among others.

Our internships entail a comprehensive experience in animal care, including learning proper safety procedures, diet preparation, feeding, cleaning, animal health, animal management, behavioral observations, and record keeping for large carnivores.

Both three and six month positions are available, with all interns working on developing their own enrichment program, and six month interns having an opportunity to work on more in-depth, comprehensive projects.

Education and Pre-requisites

Candidates should have either 3 years of animal related experience or at least two years of undergraduate program studies in zoology, animal management, biology, or a related field. International applications are welcome. Interns must be able to perform regular, strenuous duties in over 100 degree weather and must be able to lift 50 lbs. You must present yourself in a professional manner.

Interns will be under the supervision of the Intern Manager, Cameron Dickison, throughout the internship program. Interns will also have the opportunity to receive an evaluation at the end of the first two weeks of training and at the end of the internship.

Compensation and benefits

This is an unpaid internship, however there is free housing with local vehicle access on site.
