Description
Out of Africa Wildlife Park, located in Camp Verde, AZ, is an amazing, hands-on facility. Our small mammals department is looking for a new team member to help us care for our amazing animals. We are especially hoping for a candidate with some veterinary experience and preference will be given to those applicants who have had training or experience in any veterinarian field. We take care of a variety of species including servals, porcupines, a sloth and capybaras as well as parrots and emus.
Applicant must be able to demonstrate abilities in the following areas:
• Performing husbandry tasks for and handling a wide variety of mammals, birds, AND REPTILES
• Assisting with minor veterinary procedures
• Keeping habitats and diet preparation areas clean and sanitary
• Preparing meat and vegetarian diets
• Record-keeping
• Performing daily educational presentations on microphone to large crowds about the animals in our department
• Landscaping and habitat maintenance
Education and Pre-requisites
• Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years experience working with reptiles, mammals, and birds
• Must be willing to work weekends and holidays
• Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week, year around
• Must be able to work outside in extreme temperatures and weather conditions
• Must posses a high school diploma or equivalent but a college degree in an animal related field is a plus
• Must have valid ID and reliable transportation to work
• Must be capable of lifting 50+ pounds
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
Compensation and benefits
• $10- $12 depending on experience
• Benefits consist of paid sick days and holidays after a 3-month probationary period, and vacation with pay after one year
