Description

The Sedgwick County Zoo is seeking candidates for a Zoological Manager position in the Department of Ectotherms, which is responsible for the daily care and exhibition of over 160 species throughout the zoo. This position supervises a team of four full-time zookeepers, reports to the Curator of Ectotherms. This individual participates in various zoo committees, conservation projects, and represent the zoo at professional conferences and meetings.

Education and Pre-requisites

The preferred candidate will have 3-5 years of experience working with a variety of reptiles and amphibians at an AZA facility. Extensive experience with the safe management practices of potentially dangerous reptiles is a must as SCZ is home to nearly 40 species of venomous reptiles as well as several crocodilians. The Ectotherms Team is responsible for a diverse collection of terrestrial invertebrates and freshwater fishes and experience with these taxa and related life support systems is a plus.
