Description

JOB DUTIES CONSIST OF BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Daily inspections of animals and documentation of animal care.

2. Preparation of animal diets.

3. Cleaning of animal enclosures and food prep areas.

4. Give Guided Tours to groups of up to 15 people– Must be able to present to groups and work well with children.

5. Physical Demands- Work in all weather elements, lift 50 pounds and be able to move heavier items with assistance and do repetitive physical work such as raking and shoveling. Walk briskly or run if needed.

6. Assist with veterinary care, rehab animals, administrating medications.

7. Assist with building and erecting of new exhibits and reconstruction and repair of existing exhibits and buildings.

8. Maintenance of grounds in and around exhibits.

Education and Pre-requisites

Experience- At least one year of paid professional experience at a public zoo, wildlife park, animal facility or similar institution. Personal pets should not be included in experience.

Requirements- Must be at least 21 and demonstrate the ability work as a part of a team in a constantly changing environment as well as individually, with a minimum of supervision. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is a must.

Hard worker, reliable and trust worthy. Must work quickly and efficiently, using time wisely. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes early mornings, weekends and holidays.

Compensation and benefits

Salary based on experience. Evaluation after 3 months of employment. Vacation times and dates must be requested and approved by management. No medical or dental benefits.
