Description

Barn Hill Preserve is a 12-acre zoo in Ethel, LA. We are home to over 130 animals across a variety of taxa. We are currently building a safari park, with phase 1, the Africa paddock, already started. We frequently participate in in situ conservation projects, from Australia to Costa Rica.

Zookeepers at Barn Hill PReserve are responsible for daily husbandry/maintenance of animal exhibits. Additional responsibilities include:

~Daily observations of animal collection for medical and behavior purposes

~Preparing diets

~Daily interaction with guests

Requirements:

general knowledge of husbandry best practices
Animal training experience, shows experience a plus
Excellent observation skills
Record keeping skills
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as a team member

Education and Pre-requisites

~Background in exotic animal husbandry preferred

~College degree in zoology or related field preferred

~Ability to pass drug test/ background check

We recommend staff members get the COVID vaccine due to our animals being susceptible. We require masks around some of our animals as well.

Compensation and benefits

Pay starting at $12/hour, based on experience level

Temporary housing can be provided for free
