ZooWorld Zoological Park is a five-acre facility located just minutes from the beautiful white sandy beaches of Florida’s emerald coast. We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative individual to fill a full-time, permanent Zoo Keeper 2 position.
This position will care for a variety of exotic animals, to include large carnivores, small mammals, small primates and some bird species. This is a fast paced educationally focused environment! As part of the ZooWorld team, you will be on a rotating schedule that includes 3-day weekends every 5 weeks! Some holidays and some weekends should be expected (we’re zookeepers, its’s what we do). As is typical with zookeeping, highly physical tasks will probably occur on a daily basis. We are looking for a team player who can communicate and work well with others while simultaneously completing tasks independently. To qualify for this position, you must possess good organizational skills, great time management skills, even better guest experience ability and be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Education and Pre-requisites

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 1 paid animal care position or
• High school graduate with at least 2 years paid exotic experience
• Experience working with large carnivores
• Physically fit with the ability to crawl, run, climb and lift at least 60 lbs (ie a feed bag)
• Must be able to interact with guests in a courteous and professional manner
• Ability to work in Florida weather conditions for extended periods of time (hot and humid)
• Ability to learn and integrate information, knowledge, and directions quickly
• Must be reliable and show initiative (you will not have a job if you call in during the first 90 days you are employed)
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

Preference will be given to candidates with:
• 2 years or more at an animal care facility
• Experience with public presentation
• Demonstrated leadership skills
