Our facility houses a variety of animals, big cats, small cats, primates, rodents, marsupials, birds, reptiles, dogs and cats. Besides the zoo and education we train animals for movies, commercial and print work and also do rescue work.

Job duties consist of but are not limited to;
1. Daily inspections of animals and documentation.
2. Preparation of food for animals.
3. Cleaning of exhibits and food prep areas.
4. Operant conditioning of the animals and behavioral enrichment.
5. Educational Tours, Out Reach Programs and Public Presentations – Must be able to present to small and large crowds and work well with large groups of children. Assist in zoo camp and special events.
6.Physical Demands- Work in all weather elements, lift 50 pounds and be able to move heavier items with assistance and do repetitive physical work such as raking and shoveling. Walk briskly or run if needed.
7. Assist with veterinary care, administrating medications.
8. Assist with building and erecting of new exhibits and reconstruction and repair of existing exhibits and buildings.
9. Maintenance of grounds in and around exhibits.

Guest/Customer Service Skills— must have knowledge of principles for providing quality customer service. This includes understanding guest needs, meeting quality standards for service and guest satisfaction.
Computer Skills and working knowledge of Microsoft based office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook) is recommended.

Pre Employment Testing- Successful candidates may be asked to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check and TB test.

Education and Pre-requisites

Experience- One year of paid professional experience at a public zoo, wildlife park, animal facility or similar institution and a demonstrated knowledge of zoological operations. Must have letters of recommandations from facilities you worked for.

Requirements- Must be 18 and demonstrate the ability to lead and work as a part of a team in a constantly changing environment as well as individually, with a minimum of supervision. A valid driver’s License with a good driving record.

Hard worker, reliable and trust worthy. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings and/or weekends and holidays.

Compensation and benefits

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Compensation – $10-$13 per hour DOE
Benefits- One week paid vacation for every one year worked. Vacation times and dates must be requested and approved by management. No medical or relocation benefits.
