DESCRIPTION
Wildwood Wildlife Park Zoo & Safari, a 169-acre facility located in the beautiful Northwoods of Minocqua, WI is expanding and searching for additional keepers to join our team. The zoo maintains a collection of over 1000 animals including, carnivores, primates, birds, reptiles, and hoofstock.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
•General husbandry and daily care of assigned animals, including preparing and distributing approved animal diets.
•Daily cleaning associated with animal night house, habitat, and visitor viewing areas.
•Maintain accurate feeding, health, and welfare records of assigned animals.
•All work must be performed by following industry best practices, safety protocols, standards, and guidelines established by Wildwood Wildlife Park, governing agencies, and regulatory/accrediting bodies.
•Ability to exercise sound judgement in analyzing animal behavior concerns or emergencies and to respond with the appropriate action.
•Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
•Ability to carry out the curator and veterinarian’s instructions of medications as prescribed.
•Must be able to develop proficiencies in a variety of areas and animal routines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
•Must be physically fit and active, able to lift 50 pounds and be able to work in all weather conditions.
•Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
•Must maintain current tetanus vaccination within 10 years and proof of a negative TB within the current year.
Education and Pre-requisites
EDUCATION AND PRE-REQUISITES
•An Associates or Bachelor degree is preferred but those combined with hands-on experience will be considered.
•Applicant must possess a strong work ethic with great multi-tasking skills.
•Applicant must have a valid driver’s license.
Compensation and benefits
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
