Description

The Dickerson Park Zoo is seeking the next Zoo Keeper. The Zoo’s animal collection is composed of many species managed through the Species Survival Plan of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The Zoo participates in AZA SAFE programs for threatened species such as giraffes, radiated tortoises and cheetahs. Our Zoo Keepers are a part of a collaborative team environment, that work closely with Vet staff, education and maintenance.

This position will work primarily in Africa or South America/Australia areas of the Zoo, focusing on a variety of large and small mammals and birds. Click here for more information on our collection.

Dickerson Park Zoo supports more than twenty programs to save animals in the wild. Having met their rigorous standards, the Zoo has been accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums since 1986.

Education and Pre-requisites

Typically requires two years of experience in animal science related area including the care of domestic, native, and exotic animals; Directly related education and/or coursework is preferred; Experience requirement must be commensurate with the specialty area associated with current vacancy.

Compensation and benefits

$24,793.60 – $38,459.20 Annually;
