Description

We are accepting internship applications with an immediate start date for our winter internship program that focuses heavily on animal care and educating the public on our reindeer herd.
While here, interns fulfill a large range of duties during their time here. Internships at the zoo include working with the animals directly and working with the public to help educate them about the animals that reside at the zoo. The houses over 40+ species of mammals, birds, and reptiles – ranging from reindeer and camels to otters, wolves, and alligators. Interns learn to prepare diets, maintain the cleanliness of the animal food prep kitchen, clean animal habitats, bottle feed babies, maintain health records, help with health initiatives, maintain animal habitats, prepare animal enrichment, etc. Interns also learn to help with our educational programs.

Education and Pre-requisites

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be a recent college graduate.
Must be capable of the physical requirements to work in a zoo setting (ie. lift 50 pounds, etc.)
Must be able to work with and without direct supervision.
Must be able to follow oral and written directions.

Compensation and benefits

Stipend and housing.
