Position Summary:
Wildlife Show Temporary Staff work April through September 2019. This is a seasonal position that involves variable hours and a flex schedule (30-40 hours/week average). Temporary show staff members are expected to work weekends.

Would you like to spend the summer working with birds of prey and helping to educate zoo visitors about these remarkable creatures and important conservation topics? In this seasonal position, you’ll assist with the presentation of the Wildlife Live free-flight summer shows, which showcase the animals in our collection and provide visitors an up-close look at their natural behaviors.

Wildlife Summer Show Staff support backstage activities during shows and provide care for the animals in our collection (i.e., cleaning, diet preparation). You will also assist with training and show behaviors, although direct contact with animals may be minimal. This position requires excellent communication and critical thinking skills. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly variable environment and be a strong team player.

Education and Pre-requisites

• Two years cumulative experience beyond high school in zoology, biology or a related field;
• Two years experience working with exotic animals, including knowledge of animal handling and presentation practices and methods; and
• Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and standard business software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

• Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities.

Compensation and benefits

Salary: $15.68 – $17.72 hourly
