Description
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
A minimum of two years working with primates in a zoological setting. Qualifications include: primate husbandry and behavioral knowledge, a basic understanding of operant conditioning, and the care and feeding of wild animals. Safety practices around wild animals are required. Guest interactions/ public presentations are required. The qualified candidate is expected to be a team player and have good communication skills. A bachelor’s degree is highly desired. Interested applicants must be available to work any of the seven days of the week for day or evening shifts. Scheduled work hours will be 40 hours a week. Valid California driver license is required. This position requires successful completion of physical ability test. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to apply. This position involves work with susceptible species; you will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccine as a condition of employment.
Education and Pre-requisites
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology, Animal Science, Wildlife Management, or other related field preferred
Valid California driver license in good standing
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Animal behavior
Animal biology and zoology
Care, feeding and handling of wild animals
Safety practices around wild animals
Techniques for restraining or capturing wild animals
Public Speaking
Respond to cautions from co-workers
Monitor animal behavior and appearance
Operate motorized equipment and vehicles
Use computer programs (Word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and Internet)
Communicate and work effectively with others

Compensation and benefits
Union Position: $23.34
