Description
Wild Wonders is looking for a motivated Wildlife Specialist with a strong work ethic and dedication. Looking for an effective communicator and self starter.
This is a demanding position as we are a small private busy facility comprised almost exclusively of ambassador animals. Must be skilled in communication and comfortable stepping into a leadership role. Duties include all aspects of husbandry for a diverse group of species, presenting engaging programs for audiences of all ages, large and small, onsite and offsite. Promoting our mission and our role with global conservation partners. Maintenance of habitats, Behavioral enrichment included. Cheetah experience a plus. May be required to assit with minor medical procedures and participate safely with medical husbandry training. Maintaining records and keeping track of inventory. Working knowledge of ZAA accreditation standards and USDA AWA. Knowledge of Zoonoses and prevention.
Education and Pre-requisites
Ideal candidate to have 2 years experience with all aspects of animal care and program presentations, A Zoology or related degree preferred..Candidate must be flexible and work with changing protocols and priorities but also organized in inputting records and observations.
Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs and able to work in challenging weather conditions such as heat.Working knowledge of positive reinforcement and choice base training required.
Compensation and benefits
this is a non exempt position. Pay starts at 16.00-18.00 per hour and increases with experience. Full time candidates will have access to health benefits.Bonuses for programs included.
