Description

Tigers for Tomorrow is a non-profit facility dedicated to the well-being, safety and care of all animals. The facility is located in Northeast Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Tigers for Tomorrow has 4 positions available for 3 and 6 month, full time interns. Tigers for Tomorrow is home to over 150 animals and is a last stop Preserve. Work is physically demanding, and being self-motivated while working in a team environment is important. Working in various weather conditions is required. This is a strict no contact with predators positions.

Interns are responsible for:
Learning safety protocol.
Basic husbandry of Equines, Farm animals and small mammals, those competent will move onto tigers, lions, cougars, leopards, lynx, wolves, bears, and hoof stock and other various species
Cleaning and maintaining habitats and animal housing
Prepare diets and monitor feeding daily
Make daily observations of animals and report any abnormalities to supervisor
Providing animal enrichment
Presenting and educating the public by means of tours and talking with the public

Education and Pre-requisites

A degree in Zoology, Biology or related field or working towards a degree in a related field is preferred, but experience with exotic animal husbandry may be considered.
Requirements:
Be able to lift 50 pounds
Work in outdoor conditions
Work 6 days a week from 8am-6pm, or until done

Compensation and benefits

Compensation:
$50.00 a week cash stipend. Housing, internet and cable TV is provided nearby.
