Description

Tigers for Tomorrow is a non-profit facility dedicated to the well-being, safety and care of all animals. The facility is located in Northeast Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Tigers for Tomorrow now has positions available for a 3 month and a 6 month full-time interns. Tigers for Tomorrow is home to over 180 animals, and specializes in predators. Work is physically demanding, and being self-motivated while working in a team environment is important. Working in various weather conditions is required as well as weekends and holidays.
Interns are responsible for:
Basic husbandry of horses, farmyard animals, hoofstock, and small mammals, big cats, bears and wolves
Cleaning and maintaining habitats and animal housing
Prepare diets and monitor feeding daily,
Make daily observations of animals and report any abnormalities to the supervisor or lead keeper
Providing animal enrichment
Presenting and educating the public by means of tours and talking with the public

Education and Pre-requisites

A degree in Zoology, Biology or related field or working towards a degree in a related field is preferred, but experience with exotic animal husbandry may be considered.

Compensation and benefits

$50.00 a week stipend . Housing is provided nearby. All utilities are included a well as internet.
