Description

Out of Africa is a 204-acre wildlife park located in northern Arizona. We are a free-contact facility, striving to bring people and animals together in a way that promotes conservation through education. As our animals are housed in large, naturalistic enclosures, stereotypical behaviors are extremely rare.

Responsibilities of this fulltime position include, but are not limited to driving tours and interacting with hoofstock including zebra, giraffe, and antelope. Must be ready and willing to interact with large carnivores in a protected contact environment during tours. Some free contact work with select animals may be a possibility. Other duties include public speaking, food prep, administration of medication, basic animal husbandry, monitoring of animal health, maintaining cleanliness of animal enclosures, landscaping, enrichment preparation and distribution.

Education and Pre-requisites

A passion for husbandry, education, and conservation is required.

Applicants should be in good physical condition (stoop, stand, and be able to lift 75 pounds on a regular basis). Preferred applicant will be a proficient public speaker and will be expected to drive large manual transmission vehicles. A positive attitude and strong work ethic will be essential for this role. A degree in biology or a related field is preferred. Experience working with large animals is also a plus. Applicant will be expected to work weekends, holidays and overtime as assigned.
A valid drivers license is required.

Drug test required.

Compensation and benefits

Starting pay $15.00 per hour plus tips. Paid holidays and vacation.
