Description
Out of Africa is seeking a seasonal animal keeper to care for a diverse collection of large ungulates and interact with the public as a tour guide. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, exotic animal care and husbandry, habitat maintenance, enrichment, diet preparation, daily upkeep of animal logs, and assistance with veterinary procedures as needed. Approved applicant will also be responsible for conducting educational and entertaining safari tours in our mixed-species exhibit.
Education and Pre-requisites
Degree in biology or related field is preferred but applicants pursuing a degree will also be considered. Applicants must have good observation and communication skills, work harmoniously with fellow staff and supervisors, and be able to work independently. An outgoing, positive personality is essential as the selected applicant will be expected to provide excellent customer service. Experience with large hoofstock is preferred. Position is full-time and seasonal (mid Feb-May). Schedule includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Applicants must be willing to work outside in extreme weather conditions and must be able to lift 75 pounds. Ability to drive large vehicles and stick shifts a plus. Compensation and benefits
Starting salary is $11.00 per hour plus tips.
