Description

This is a seasonal venomous keeper position from mid-March through late October. The keeper will be responsible for the husbandry of several species of North American venomous snakes. The keeper will also assist in other zoo functions such as maintaining supplies for venom extraction, assisting other keepers, advising interns, record keeping and interacting with the public as needed. This is a full-time, 40 hr./week position with two consecutive days off during the week. This position requires working outside in all weather conditions as well as performing a number of physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.

Education and Pre-requisites

Previous reptile experience is required. Applicants must have a minimum bachelor’s degree in biology, zoology or a related field. Previous venomous experience is preferred but not required. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and be able to sit, stand, crawl and grasp objects is required. Successful applicants are willing to follow directions, pay attention to detail and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation and benefits

$11/hr. This position does not offer benefits.
