Description

Fresno Chaffee Zoo is seeking to hire knowledgeable, outgoing and customer-oriented Seasonal Events Facilitators. This position is a part time seasonal position that is responsible for setting up, facilitating and tear down of upcoming events over the holiday season. The successful candidate must be comfortable working with the public. This position must maintain enthusiastic interaction with customers while paying attention to details and always sticking to specifications. The Zoo employees positive interactions with customers create the unforgettable customer experience that keeps patrons coming back.

This position helps to create an excellent guest experience by performing set-up and clean-up duties for seasonal Zoo events including ZooBoo and Illuminature. The position also assists with a variety of guest service activities throughout each event.

Essential Functions:

Demonstrates attention to detail and efficient work flow while setting up and cleaning up events.
Follows instructions and completes assigned tasks with minimal oversight.
Greets Zoo guests in a friendly, professional manner throughout the event.
Provides excellent guest service throughout each event including food/beverage service, craft stations, photo opportunities, etc.
Adheres to safety procedures in all aspects of work including the use of Zoo equipment.
Uses good judgment and proper lifting techniques (team lift, etc.) while lifting/moving heavy items, using ladders and or small tools (staple guns, screwdrivers, etc.).
Maintains Zoo equipment to ensure safety, security and proper operation.
Maintains order in storage areas by returning equipment to its proper place.
Effectively communicates and works cooperatively with management and fellow employees before, during, and after an event.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Pre-requisites

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

Applicants must be able to work events from 2022 through February 2023. Seasonal staff must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during our holiday event. This event schedule is primarily weekends with shifts that start at 4:30pm and end at 9:30pm.

Minimum one year related experience in a customer service or special events environment, preferred.
Strong verbal English communications skills required. Bilingual (Spanish or Hmong) communication skills a plus.
Ability to work evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading. Color perception is also required.
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication (in person and via telephone), at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. The employee must convey detailed or important spoken information to others in individual and small group settings.
Hand and finger dexterity sufficient for typing and other administrative tasks.
The employee is regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:

This position regularly works with others including Zoo executives and employees.
The position primarily functions indoors, with frequent exposure to outdoor Zoo environments and external events.
Occasional local travel may be required.
