Seasonal Animal Encounters

Facility

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium

Closing Date
February 25, 2019
Description

As an Animal Encounters seasonal you will spend every morning caring for a range of species that help to make up the the Animal Programs department collection. Just a few of the animals you could provide husbandry for are macaws, opossums, servals, ball pythons, birds of prey, even hissing cockroaches! After all the animals have been checked over, had their enclosures cleaned, given breakfast and new enrichment for the day our guest engagement portion of the job kicks into action. At Bob Evans my Barn you will be introducing guests to the many goats and sheep that call the contact yard their home; as well as educating them about the amazing heritage breed animal ambassadors around the area. During shifts at the barn you will be able to engage with guests one-on-one during special encounters as well as reach a larger audience during our Home Heritage Shows. After grabbing a bite to eat you might head up to the Heart of Africa to help prep the stage and animal participants for one of our Wild Africa Shows which features animals from around the continent of Africa. Once all the shows conclude for the day all of our ambassadors need settled for the night during our PM husbandry routines. This of course could be a day in the life of an animal encounters seasonal but the best part of the job is that each day is different, so activities and tasks vary day by day!
