Description
• Perform good husbandry practices for a large variety of reptiles, including some venomous, living in indoor and outdoor habitats.
• Manage daily activity and schedules of several staff members.
• Perform and delegate habitat cleaning, maintenance, landscaping, repair, and construction.
• Prepare and delegate healthy diets, monitor individual animal food consumption.
• Interface with veterinary and suppliers.
• Work closely with park management to plan and create new exhibits, suggest additional animals, and provide current summaries of health and welfare of all animals and personal under manager’s care.
• Communicate with other animal departments about daily schedules including public tours.
• Be responsible and be able to emcee the daily “Giant Snake Show”.
• Conduct “Supermog” safari tours involving other department’s animals.
• Relieve visitor transportation occasionally if needed.
Education and Pre-requisites
The successful candidate must be a team player, of good responsible character, honest, hardworking, take initiative, drug free, loving towards people and animals.
• College degree and/or management experience in animal care.
• 7 years of reptile experience.
• Venomous experience.
• Passionate about reptiles.
• Basic habitat construction experience.
• Public speaking experience.
• Lift 50+ pounds.
• Work outside in inclement weather year round including desert heat.
• Computer afferent.
