Description

Position Summary

RNs will provide some Occupational Health Services: including TB testing, immunizations and venipuncture. They will also provide care for illnesses and injuries of visitors and employees in the park.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide standard first aid treatment and care for illnesses/injuries of visitors and employees at the Bronx Zoo. Examine patients and treat injuries within the scope of training and/or refer patients to appropriate practitioner, clinic or alternate care if needed.
Some Occupational Health tasks including TB testing, immunizations and venipuncture
Accurately document encounters to maintain required records and notes of interactions and treatments, and provide details for follow-up as needed.
Drive golf cart around the park as needed to get to injured/ill visitors/employees
Respond to First Aid calls out in the park to get to injured/ill visitors/employees, and take appropriate control of the situation while considering the safety of guests and staff in the area.
Create monthly coverage schedules for First Aid Station coverage for per-diem RNs.
Maintain First Aid Station, adequately stock first aid supply in first aid kits throughout park, and perform monthly AED checks.
Perform other related duties as assigned to provide Human Health Services department coverage while HHS Manager is on leave.

Education and Pre-requisites

Qualification Requirements :
Currently registered as a Professional Registered Nurse (RN) in NYS (BSN preferred)
Must hold a valid Driver’s License and maintain a clean driving record
BLS Certification in CPR/AED
Must feel comfortable working alone after training
Preference for experience in Urgent Care or Ambulatory Care setting
Must be available 5 days a week for duration of leave replacement starting mid-February

Compensation and benefits

Salary Range :
$40-45 per hour
