Description

The Oklahoma Primate Sanctuary is seeking a full-time caregiver to aid in the care of over 100 primates. Prefer candidate with prior animal care experience, especially in the care of non-human primates. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the daily care and husbandry of ex-pets and retired research primates in a sanctuary setting that is not open to the public. Our team is searching for a caregiver that is enthusiastic about their work, can work independently and as part of a team, and able to work primarily outside in a physically demanding job in all extremes of weather.

Education and Pre-requisites

Prefer a candidate with relevant experience either in the care of primates, or other non-domestic species in a professional setting. Willing to consider non-exotic animal care experience. Knowledge of operant conditioning a plus. Other pre-requisites:

Must be able to work in physically demanding environment in all extremes of weather.

Ability to lift at least 50lbs.

The ability to work both independently and within a team.

Dependable and reliable.

Good time management and organizational skills.

Well developed observational skills.

Negative TB test.

Compensation and benefits

Starting pay is $11.50/hr with 40 hrs paid time off per year, and holiday pay.
