Description

The ideal candidate will have experience working with mammals, reptiles, and invertebrates native to the Mojave; demonstrate the ability to capture, handle, and restrain a variety of wildlife as well as care and interpret captive butterflies; and be able to effectively explain technical concepts to audiences outside of the field of Zoology in a fun and engaging manner.

Hours of Work: 4/10’s, 7 am – 4 pm, Th-M, with variable days and shifts to support seven day operations and extended hours.

Education and Pre-requisites

Graduation from high school and at least one year of experience in the care and maintenance of animals in a professional animal care facility similar to
the Preserve, including handling and restraining dangerous animals or other work that provides familiarity with animal husbandry – specifically in herpetology; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduation
from a college or university with a major in biology, zoology or a related field is preferred.

Compensation and benefits

$19.90 an hour
