Responsibilities and Duties

Overview

This position is a 3 day per week zookeeping position which involves working with giraffes, tigers, spider monkeys and the Education Department’s Animal ambassador areas.

Principal Duties:

* Responsible for the daily husbandry and welfare of the zoo’s giraffe and Education Department animal holding areas.
* May observe and monitor the health and well-being of the zoo’s animals.
* Ensures the safety of the animals, staff, and public.
* Communicates with the veterinarian regarding all animal health concerns.
* Other duties as assigned.
* Facilitates shifting of giraffes and tigers.

Education and Pre-requisites

Minimum Requirements

* Some college course work in Animal Science preferred.
* Applicant will be trained on all necessary duties involved with this position.
