Description

Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is seeking applicants for our Husbandry Internship program.

Position Description:

This position assists the life support system staff with the operation, care, and upkeep of all systems at the Aquarium. Duties include monitoring critical life support system functions, record keeping, and assisting in exhibit or habitat modifications. Intern will also have an opportunity for independent study/research that he/she can present near the end of the internship. Topics of interest may include fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, acoustics, electromagnetisms, biomechanics, etc. No animal testing is permissible. Internship is unpaid and no housing is provided.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
Ability to work in environmental conditions
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to climb stairs, kneel, and squat
General Requirements:

Must have the ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
Prefer candidates that have completed or are pursuing a degree in engineering or related fields in physical sciences
Must commit to a schedule.
Must pass a background check
May be subject to random drug screening
Must have strong communication skills and be comfortable engaging a diverse audience.
