Education and Pre-requisites

Applicants must have experience in the husbandry and maintenance of terrestrial invertebrates; an example would be at least one year in a zoological, museum or university setting. An educational background in entomology, arachnology, or general invertebrate biology or equivalent specialized training/experience is required. Strong organizational skills and the ability to perform highly detail-oriented work is necessary. Familiarity with USDA/APHIS PPQ regulations as they apply to exotic arthropod collections is desirabel. Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Public speaking ability and experience with formal and informal presentations is highly desirable. Experience with imperiled butterfly conservation and/or butterfly captive rearing for field release is preferred. Interested applicants must be available to work any of the seven days of the week and be available evening and/or daytime hours. Typical scheduled work hours are approximately 40 per week. A valid driver license is required.

Compensation and benefits

(Union position with benefits) Hourly wage $20.72 – $22.50
