Education and Pre-requisites
This position requires broad knowledge and experience with husbandry and propagation techniques for a diverse group of reptiles and amphibians. Responsible for all aspects of daily animal care. Applicants must have experience in the handling and maintenance of venomous snakes, an example of which would be at least 2 years experience. Husbandry experience with crocodilians and aquatic turtles desirable but not required. Skills needed include maintenance of exhibit/facilities, data collection, record keeping, exhibit fabrication, handling and restraint techniques and participation in research projects. Public speaking skills are required for educational presentations. A Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field is desirable. Applicants must be available any of the seven days of the week, approximately 40 hours per week. A valid California driver license is required. Compensation and benefits
Union position with benefits. Hourly payrate: $20.72 – $22.50.
