Description

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum’s department of Mammalogy & Ornithology seeks an enthusiastic individual to join our team. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge and experience in husbandry specific to the care of captive wild birds and mammals. Must be comfortable with speaking to and with the public and possess the ability to learn presentation skills and materials. Knowledge of the Sonoran Desert region is beneficial. The successful candidate is expected to continue to seek and acquire education/knowledge in the fields of Mammalogy & Ornithology. Must be a quick learner and a self-starter, requiring little supervision. Must be team oriented and have a demonstrated history of being courteous, sensitive and respectful.

Education and Pre-requisites

Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and at least two years’ work experience (preferably paid) in an AZA-accredited facility; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required.

Compensation and benefits

Bargaining Unit position. Initial Step: $13.64/hr.
