The Houston Zoo is seeking an experienced Interpretation Specialist to join our conservation education team!

Apply to join our team and have a chance to put your energy and passion in action by sharing wildlife and conservation messages through guest-facing interactions. These may be one-on-one or small group on Zoo Grounds or stage theatrical programs using storytelling, comedy, scripted material, improvisation, songs, games and physical theater. A valid Texas driver’s license is required within state regulated timeframe if you are relocating to the area. This role works every weekend as part of a regular full-time schedule and is required to work some holidays and evenings.

Education and Pre-requisites

EXPERIENCE:
One-year experience informal education is required. Experience working with live animals is preferred. One-year experience in theatrical performing and or presenting individually or with a partner/group in a private and/or public venue desired.

KNOWLEDGE:
A four-year degree in education, natural sciences, communications, or theatrical arts or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Ability to read, write and speak Spanish desired.
