Description
Virginia Safari Park, a 180-acre drive through zoo and breeding center, is expanding and searching for additional keepers. We maintain an inventory of 1000+ specimens comprised of large groups of hoofed stock as well as a “Safari Village” comprised of primates, walk-through aviary, reptiles and petting area.
Interns will gain practical experience caring for captive wildlife. Experiences include feeding, cleaning, veterinary care, chemical immobilization, record-keeping and many other related skills.
We have 6 Internships available:
– Upper Village
– Lower Village
– Front Safari
– Back Safari
– Barns (Giraffe, Rhino, Bongo)
– Encounters
Education and Pre-requisites
Candidates should have completed at least two years of college or completed a degree in an undergraduate program related to wildlife management, conservation biology, or a related science degree. Previous internships are strongly recommended. They must also have a valid driver’s license.
Compensation and benefits
Stipend and housing are available.
