Denver Zoo’s Animal Care department has an opportunity for a full time Hoofstock Zookeeper to assist the animal care staff in providing the safe exhibition, handling, feeding, husbandry and training of animals in the Hoofstock Department. The Hoofstock division is mostly comprised of a variety of Asian and African hoofstock and a variety of birds. The position requires good knowledge of the natural history of these or similar species, excellent husbandry skills, active participation in training and enrichment, involvement in public demonstrations and the ability to work in a strong, team-oriented environment. The selected individual will be trained in all areas in the division, but will eventually focus primarily on two of the barns. Candidates should have two years of hoofstock experience and should specify on their application their particular experience with these taxa and their experience in animal training and presentations.
