Description

Alabama Safari Park is a 350-Acre Park with a large collection of rare and exotic Hoofstock. The Park is dedicated to conservation and has provided support to programs in over 135 countries around the world. The Giraffe program is the center of our conservation efforts and we are looking to add an experienced animal care professional to this routine. This section includes caring for large groups such as: Giraffe, Greater Kudu, Impala, and Cassowary as well as maintaining the barn that oversees all transitional animals and neonates. Prior knowledge of administrating veterinary medicine and giving neonatal care will be necessary in this role.
Responsibilities will include:
• Day-to-day husbandry activities: feed and water animals, clean, sanitize, maintain animal quarters as required; shovel, rake, hose, sweep, dust, and pressure wash floors.
• Maintain records on daily activities, observe animal behavior; reporting animal behavior.
• Participate in training, enrichment and animal restraint through various manual and hydraulic chutes.

Education and Pre-requisites

• Associates degree
• Two years’ experience working with Giraffe or Hoofstock
• MUST be able to lift 50 lbs.
• MUST be able to work outside in all weather conditions
• Preferred experience driving large machinery such as; tractors, skid steers, lawn mower, etc.

Compensation and benefits

Pay based on Experience. Range will be from $14-$16/hour. Excellent benefits including Heath Insurance, 401K, sick time and paid vacation. Housing available with other Animal Care staff if desired.
