Alabama Safari Park, a 350-acre drive through safari and breeding facility just south of Montgomery, is hiring an experienced Giraffe keeper. Constantly expanding, we currently care for a large collection of ungulate species and ratites, including our bachelor herd of Reticulated Giraffe. The right candidate will have excellent observation skills and a strong work ethic. Experienced keeper applicants must possess leadership skills and will report directly to the Curator. Giraffe and other large mammal experience is required. All keepers are responsible for daily care of the animals and are required to maintain animal records and assist with breeding programs.

Education and Pre-requisites

Minimum 1 year paid hoofed stock experience, including direct participation in daily
giraffe husbandry
Bachelor’s degree in an Animal Science/Biology field preferred
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in all types of weather conditions
Maintain a non-smoking work environment, no visible tattoos
Experience operating trucks, tractors, trailers, hand tools and other machinery
Valid Driver’s license
Must be available to work weekends and holidays

Compensation and benefits

Compensation based on experience, starting at $13/hour.
Benefits include health insurance, paid sick time, paid vacation and 401k options after 1 year of employment
