Description

-Feed and care for a variety of exotic zoo animals. Clean and maintain animal enclosures. Prepare regular and special diets to feed animals. Provide daily enrichment.
-Application of some knowledge of sanitation and disinfection processes.
– Prepare and feed animals regular and special diet foods.
– Maintain accurate logs and records of animal care and observation.
– Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the general public.
-Maintain a professional appearance.
– Requires mobility within a zoo environment.
-Work outdoors in TEXAS heat, rain and cold.
– You must be able to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders and lots of walking.
• Assist in education programs when appropriate, provide input regarding animal training programs, assist onsite events
• Ensure positive experience for visitors and offer knowledge and information when applicable or required
• Ability to make decisions thoughtfully, but quickly when necessary
• Ability to work independently and as a team, and pride of one’s work are key qualifications.

Education and Pre-requisites

B.S. Biology/Zoology/Animal Science Degree and at least two (2) years of animal care and handling experience (Zoo or Wildlife Park with land mammals) or 2 years of PAID Zoo/Wildlife Park internships related to position with good references, excluding personal pets.
