Description

Out of Africa Wildlife Park is seeking a full-time keeper for the Small Mammals department. This position will work with small mammals including lemurs, marmosets, sloth, large rodents, small cats, other small mammals and birds. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, exotic animal care and husbandry, habitat maintenance, enrichment, diet preparation, daily upkeep of animal logs, and assistance with veterinary procedures as needed. Approved applicant will also be responsible for presenting formal educational shows, sloth encounters, VIP encounters and some tours. Schedule includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Applicants must be willing to work outside in Arizona weather which could include but not limited to intense heat, monsoons and snow.

Education and Pre-requisites

Degree in biology or related field is preferred. Applicants must have good observation and communication skills, work harmoniously with fellow staff and supervisors, and be able to work independently. An outgoing, positive personality is essential as the selected applicant will be expected to provide excellent customer service. Must be comfortable with public speaking in front of large crowds and small guest groups. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Ability to drive vehicles such as trucks, vans, cars and stick shifts is a plus. Compensation and benefits

Starting salary is a minimum of $13.50 per hour plus tips from encounters and tours. Pay is commensurate with experience. Paid holidays after 3 months and 1 week vacation after 1 year.
