Internship Overview:

The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is seeking applicants for our Husbandry Internship Program. Several internship opportunities are available to hard working, self-motivated candidates interested in developing their careers and contributing to the success of the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. This program offers practical, on-the-job experience for those seeking a career in an Aquarium field. If selected for the internship, candidates are asked to work 24-32 hours a week for 12 weeks.

Position Description:

This position assists staff with daily animal husbandry for a diverse collection of fishes and invertebrates. Duties include animal observations, servicing animal habitats and holding areas, preparing diets, feeding the animal collection and interacting with guests for animal talks and public feeds.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Ability to work in environmental conditions
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to climb stairs, kneel, and squat
General Requirements:

Must have the ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
Prefer candidates that are pursuing a degree in a Biology related field.
Must commit to a schedule.
Must pass a background check
May be subject to random drug screening
Must have strong communication skills and be comfortable engaging a diverse audience.
Willingness to work weekends, holidays, irregular hours and be available based on special needs/circumstances.
