Description

Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary provides lifelong care to abandoned, confiscated and surrendered exotics and native Nevada wildlife. Species include but are not limited to tigers, African lions, cougars, black bears, bobcats, servals, caracals, foxes and coyotes.
We are seeking enthusiastic, energetic candidates for our six-month animal keeper Fall/Winter positions. Candidates will gain experience in animal husbandry, providing educational outreach presentations to the public and habitat building. The position also includes the training/operant conditioning of a specific group of residents for wellness and health checks. Safe Haven also provides its residents with an extensive enrichment program in which interns are given an opportunity to build and create long-lasting enrichment items for residents and their habitats.

Education and Pre-requisites

*****DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS, WE ARE REQUIRING THAT NEW INTERNS ENTER AN ON-SITE 14-DAY QUARANTINE.****

*Must be 21 years of age
*Degree in Zoology, Biology or Animal Sciences preferred, but will consider prior exotic care experience.
*Must be in good physical condition and able to lift at least 50 lbs.
*Must be willing and able to work in inclement weather
*Tetanus vaccination required

Compensation and benefits

$200/monthly stipend
