Description

Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary, located in remote northern Nevada, is now accepting applications for a fall/winter internship. Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary is accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries and the American Sanctuary Association.
Internships provide a unique opportunity to gain experience in animal husbandry and educational presentations to the public.
Daily animal care includes diet preparation, medications, habitat cleaning, operant conditioning/training and providing animal enrichment.
Candidate will also help with habitat building and grounds upkeep.

Education and Pre-requisites

An associate degree in biology, zoology or other animal science programs.
Must be able to regularly lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Must be willing to work in inclement weather.
Flexibility in work hours depending on time of year, emergencies, etc.
Strictly adhere to Safe Haven’s no animal contact policy.

Compensation and benefits

This is an unpaid position, however, free onsite housing and a monthly stipend of $200.00 per month is provided.
