Project Survival’s Cat Haven, a 501c3 Non-Profit, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains is hiring a full-time experienced Carnivore keeper (this is not an entry level position) to care for 15 species of exotic cats. We are located about 45 minutes from any major residential area, on 93 acres of hilly terrain. We are a small facility of 5 full time keepers and an education department. The ideal keeper will be flexible and able to think on their feet. A good team player, also able to work by themselves. The ability to work with numerous personality types. The experienced carnivore keeper will be comfortable with single keeper shifting, of both small and large exotics, have experience with training of daily husbandry behaviors. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of exotic cat ambassador handling.

Job Duties
Daily husbandry
Training
Diet preparation, including preparation of already killed whole prey
Exhibit maintenance and grounds keeping
Enrichment preparation
Record Keeping
Keeper public interactions
Intern training
Assist with medical and management procedures
Able to work outside in a wide range of weather (100+ degree days to snow)
Ensure compliance with Employee Handbook, risk management plan, all other safety rules and procedures, the facilities vision, mission and goals.
Other duties as assigned.

Compensation and benefits

Our schedule is four 10-hour days, that typically start at 7am and conclude around 530pm. Days off may not be consecutive. Working holidays will be determined in department. Starting wage is $15.00 per hour. Medical benefits start after 3 months. Paid time off starts after 1 year of employment. Paid sick leave begins to accrue after start date.
