Description

Panther Ridge is looking for interns to care for many species of exotic felines. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing exceptional care for the animals in our collection, all the while supporting conservation efforts in Africa and Asia. Although we are not open to the general public, we provide educational private tours conducted by all staff and interns. Panther Ridge is currently home to over 20 cats including Cheetah, Leopard, Jaguar, Puma, Clouded Leopard, Ocelot, Fishing Cat Serval, and Caracal. Check out our website at Pantherridgecc.org to learn more. Panther Ridge is located 30 min southwest of West Palm Beach, 20 min from the ocean and 1.5 hours from Miami. The start and end dates of the internship are flexible. Preferred start date the end of August 2019 or sooner

Education and Pre-requisites

Must be working toward or have a degree in biology, zoology or related field
3 months full time exotic feline experience preferred
Previous training experience always a plus
Ability to lift and carry 50 pound boxes
Ability to work in Florida weather conditions for extended periods of time
Must work all holidays and weekends
Ability to stand/walk for 6-8 hours each day
Must be hardworking, self-motivated individual
Must work well with others
Must have their own reliable car

Responsibilities Include:
Diet/meat prep
Cleaning enclosures
Animal interactions/training
General maintenance/landscaping
Assisting with veterinary care
Behavioral observation
Providing enrichment/enrichment projects
Public interactions and public speaking
Following safety protocols/etc.

Compensation and benefits

Panther Ridge Conservation Center offers 3-month internships and for the right individual it may be extended to 6 months. We have housing available for 2 interns on site and offer a $200/month stipend. No pets are allowed. Interns will work 6 days a week(including holidays and weekends) and must be up to date on vaccinations including tetanus and be TB negative.
