Description
Barn Hill Preserve is an 18-acre facility in Ethel, LA. We are home to over 100 animals consisting of 35+ species. We are a relatively new facility at 8 years old that is constantly growing. Our sister non-profit organization recently spent 2 months in Australia helping with bushfire rescue. We are seeking a dynamic, versatile, adaptable, and experienced person to join our close knit team.
Education staff must have excellent interpersonal skills, learn quickly, and have a passion for conservation and animals. Education staff is responsible for facilitating encounter tours for groups of up to 30 guests, including otter swims. Tours are approximately 2 hours long and involve handling a variety of animals from different taxa. This could also include traveling to local schools for educational shows.
There is the potential for this to turn into a managerial position with the right experience.
REQUIREMENTS:
– Public speaking experience
– Animal training for shows is preferred
Pay: starting at $13/hour but commensurate based on experience, and opportunity for raise after 90-day probationary period. Benefits can be discussed.
