Description

The Wildlife World Zoo in Litchfield Park is looking for an energetic, hard-working person to join our Education Department! This position is responsible for daily care and husbandry of over 40 different species of ambassador animals as well as the lorikeet flock in our public aviary.

As an Education Keeper, you will be working with your team to continue the growth of our educational programs, both on site and off site, as well as oversee the public during our daily lorikeet feedings.

Responsibilities Include:

Training new behaviors with our animal ambassadors as well as maintaining previous behaviors
Narrate engaging and educational presentations three times daily
Daily care and husbandry for animal ambassadors and lorikeet flock
Interacting with guests and providing information as needed
Going out on offsite outreach programs with animal ambassadors
Maintaining records on training sessions, animal health, presentations and communicate these to the team
Overseeing the public in lorikeet feeding sessions three times daily
Other duties as needed

Education and Pre-requisites

Requirements

1-2 years of professional experience in animal husbandry with an emphasis on education
Public speaking experience- able to be energetic and engaging with an audience
Knowledge of R+ animal training techniques and operant conditioning
Experience with birds, mammals and reptiles preferred

Compensation and benefits

Pay is $12.00 per hour, plus PTO (1 hour for every 30 hours worked). We would like someone to be able to start as soon as possible.
